First Step: Get the dough ready.
- Combine the salt and all-purpose flour in a large bowl.
- Add water little by little while kneading the dough until it is smooth and pliable. Make sure it is neither too dry nor too sticky.
- Allow the dough to rest for half an hour after covering it with a moist cloth.
Second Step: Filling the Instance
- Over medium heat, heat the oil in a pan.
- Grated ginger, chopped green chilies, and minced garlic should be added. Until fragrant, sauté.
- Add the onions and sauté them until they become translucent.
- Add the spring onions, carrots, and cabbage, all chopped fine. Stir-fry over high heat for 3–4 minutes to keep the vegetables crunchy.
- Add soy sauce, salt, and black pepper for seasoning. After mixing thoroughly, cook for two more minutes.
- Take the filling off of the stove and allow it to cool.
Third Step: Momos Shaping
- Roll the dough into balls after dividing it into small, equal portions.
- Flatten each ball into thin, round discs that are about 3 inches in diameter using a rolling pin.
- Put a dollop of the ready-to-make filling in the middle of every disc.
- To seal the momo, gently fold the edges and pleat them together. They can be shaped into circles, half moons, or classic pleated designs.
Fourth Step: Steaming the Momos
- Apply oil to a steamer plate to keep the momos from sticking.
- Make sure the momos are not in contact with one another when you arrange them on the plate.
- For ten to twelve minutes, or until the outer layer is translucent, steam them in a steamer.
- To preserve their softness, take them out of the steamer and keep them covered.
How to Prepare the Hot Tomato Dipping Sauce
- For ten minutes, soak the dried red chilies in warm water.
- Bring the tomatoes to a boil and remove the skin.
- Make a smooth paste out of the chiles, tomatoes, garlic, vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Serve the momos with the sauce after transferring it to a bowl.
Advice for the Ideal Veg Momos
- Dough Kneading:Â The momos will be soft and not chewy if the dough is well-kneaded. The dough must rest in order to become elastic.
- Even Filling:Â As the momos steam, they may burst if you overfill them.
- Steaming Time: Don’t steam for too long because that can make the top layer too chewy.
- Fresh Ingredients:Â To improve the flavor, always base the filling on fresh vegetables.
